Samantha and I just were discussing fashion and how girls are so dumb about who-copied-who. Bose and I held a prolonged debate, poolside, about cockroaches and their mating habits. Farhan and I are forever battling about end of the world scenarios. Ivan and I have scathing fights periodically, and little skirmishes in between to keep the toes going. And as Aloy and I have figured out over a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, that there really is no point to any of these conversations.
And the reason for that is because we have no idea what the point is to our existence. I mean, we sorta gotta clue sometimes. "To do good!" we wave around feebly. "Love and peace for mankind!" we exclaim. "Heal the world, make it a better place" reckons MJ. Enlightenment, Inner peace, Zen, Nirvana, Heaven, etc just seem to me, really vague concepts to find a purpose in a life where we have none.
And of these old-fashioned notions, do they apply more or less in this day and age. And what do they mean anymore, when our idols are all but false and the praise we offer to Gods tainted with the knowledge of sin outside those 4 walls.
But take hope in this. Cos that means that you can have non-intellectual conversations (like what slogans t-shirts should have instead of the junk that's out there) and have as much point as an exchange on the policies of South Korea as opposed to China.
Of course this discourse has no point to it as well.
